Shaandaar - Falls short of being Shaandaar but...

A story of two insomniacs played by Alia and Shahid who happened to meet by accident (literally). Jagjinder Joginder, [Shahid Kapur (or Kapoor)] is a wedding organizer for Vipin's (Pankaj Kapur) daughter Isha (Shahid's real life sister, Sanah Kapoor), step-sister of Alia (played by Alia Bhatt). It not a wedding, it's a business deal with the (funnily called) Fundwani's represented in the film by Sanjay Kapoor.

Directed by Vikas Bahl (also directed Queen), screenplay by Anvita Dutt, Shaandaar starts off on a high note with the Sindhi-Punjabi pre-wedding hullabaloo. The 1st half has more bling than Bappi Lahiri has ever worn in his life till now. A nice Sindhi-Punjabi cocktail of comedy and jokes. But could've been better.

In the department of acting, Shahid and Alia nailed it. I liked Alia's acting in this more than any other film. Pankaj Kapur's acting as always puts life into the scenes he's in and helps the overall film. I was hoping to see more of Sanjay Kapoor, but he's been underutilized. Karan Johar has a cameo. But the surprise came in the form of Sushma Seth and more than anyone else - Sanah Kapoor. Although I don't believe in awards but, Sanah Kapoor may win some for her debut. Sanah Kapoor is cute and funny.

Getting to the music, Amit Trivedi's music doesn't disappoint and the songs, even though too many are not boring. For this film I thought I should pay attention to the lyrics of the songs, and must tell you Amitabh Bhattacharya's (and Anvita Dutt's) lyrics really get stuck into your mind. The song 'Gulabo' has to be the best among the lot.

Coming to the direction, Vikas Bahl returns to directing with this one, after giving us the hit in 2014 (Watch 'Queen' if you haven't yet). Comparisons have already started pouring in and it isn't looking good for both Shaandaar and Vikas Bahl. No denying that Shaandaar has its own share of flaws and lows, but those are negligible if considered as an overall part of the film. Shaandaar is a very different take on destination weddings (other films include Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani). Screenplay and dialogues by Anvita Dutt are not bad. A lot of acronym talk and lot of inspiration from the current lingo of the millennials (current trend visible in most Bollywood films).

This could definitely be a parallel universe story of lives of Sindhis including the weddings. Overall it's ABS (A Big Sindhi) wedding, full-on Bollywood masala film, with lots of body talk (fat, gyming, etc.) with a tiny bit of reference to other films including Top Gun, with a lot of Microsoft product placement and a message worth learning from. I liked it and for those yet to watch it, it's a one time watch for everyone's acting.

The Intern – Feel good film that deserves an audience of every generation

A 70 year old guy who is retired, has done everything from learning Mandarin, to doing Yoga, to travelling across the world, but is still bored in life, and so takes up an internship opportunity at an online fashion retail start-up in Manhattan. What follows is the best that can come from Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.
The story is really simple and a heart-warming one. Anne Hathaway as a start-up founder, juggling many roles, trying to do right by everyone, will definitely melt your heart, if you are an emotional person. Robert De Niro is at his best. There is nothing to hate about this film. The relationship between a boss and an intern, between other employees and the new joinees is presented in a way that you feel connected to it.
Nancy Meyers knows the subject well, her team has researched on the start-up ecosystem and the controversies and situation surrounding women entrepreneurs.
Anne Hathaway will bring back some of the memories of The Devil Wears Prada, not that her character is anything like Meryl Streep’s but just the whole fashion scene and the chaos and the pressure of delivering.
Robert De Niro as the intern will make you laugh, cry, may bring back memories of your internship and may even make you think about what you are gonna do when you are 70? Rene Russo plays Fiona (the masseuse) and Anders Holm plays Anne Hathaway’s husband in this film. Although, they both don't have much roles, they are still good for the time they are on screen.
Nancy Meyers has directed films like What Women Want, Something's Gotta Give, It's Complicated, and others. You see her touch in this film as well. A lot of scenes are based on true events that have recently occurred in the Silicon Valley and the tech start-up ecosystem.
Overall, I would say this is a fun, and a must watch film for all ages. There is nothing to not like about this film. Definitely will be nominated at The Oscars for atleast a couple of categories.

Katti Batti – Imran and Kangana surprise us for different reasons

A poor guy can’t get over a fact that a rich girl dumped him after being in a live-in relationship for 5 years. He can’t stand the fact that the girl is marrying another guy and so desperately wants to stop her from marrying, the entire drama thrown around with few songs thrown in as well. And there’s a movie made around the whole situation. Tell me where’s the originality is this?
The transition of going into the flashbacks is good but it is messed up when transitioning back to reality. Imran Khan really surprises with his role and acting. His character feels like a matured version of the character he portrayed in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. The scene where his character is seen running at the airport will remind you of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. Kangana on the other hand has nothing new to offer. She is good as usual but now that we are used to seeing her play different characters that totally take everyone by surprise, this one will actually disappoint.
The film also stars Aadaar Malik and Vivaan Bathena. I was expecting substantial acting but I think the characters they played didn’t require that much of an effort. Music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy isn’t bad and the songs don’t bore. I liked the comic book treatment given to the song ‘Lip to Lip’ and it’s also fun to listen. Apart from a few good moments here and there, this film has nothing new or substantial to offer.
At 2 hours 19 minutes, this feels like a long watch, especially in the last 30 minutes which could have been easily cut down by 15 minutes. When I think of Nikhil Advani I always think of Salaam-E-Ishq. I liked Salaam-E-Ishq even though it was long (ok way too long). But the point is, even though Salaam-E-Ishq was long it had something good in terms of acting and story. Katti Batti disappoints on those fronts.
Nikhil Advani has also directed films like Kal Ho Naa Ho, D-Day, Patiala House, Delhi Safari. I think Kabir Khan and Nikhil Advani wanted to make it their year at the movie theatres since they both return to directing after quite some time. But Kabir Khan had one hit (Bajrangi Bhaijaan) and one miss (Phantom), whereas Nikhil Advani had two misses (Hero and Katti Batti).
I was expecting Kangana to surprise once again with her acting. Well, she did surprise by not having a good character and a disappointing role. Watch Katti Batti only if you are an Imran Khan or Kangana Ranaut fan.

Welcome Back - The other worse movie after 2 States

Welcome released in 2007, just a refresh that it starred Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Feroz Khan, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Mallika Sherawat, Paresh Rawal, Supriya Karnik and others. Directed by Anees Bazmee, it had a run time of 159 minutes and has an IMDb rating of 6.4/10. The reason why we need to refresh this is because to compare just how bad Welcome Back is against Welcome.
Welcome Back stars almost everyone from the prequel except Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Feroz Khan, and Mallika Sherawat. The new additions to this sequel have been John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Ankita Shrivastava, Dimple Kapadia, Shiney Ahuja and Naseeruddin Shah. I mean just look at the cast and on the other side you have the stupid script and that botched up ending.
The film is set in United Arab Emirates and looks like its tourism ad. John Abraham is good at action but needs to work on his comic timing, and Shruti Haasan needs to work on her acting skills. Every actor right from Dimple Kapadia to Shiney Ahuja to Naseeruddin Shah have been wasted. The only ones to look out for are Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, and Paresh Rawal.
Anees Bazmee has directed films like Ready (2011), Welcome (2007), and even, No Entry (2005) among others. He returns to directing after 4 years and this is what he has to serve people. The 2nd half is where Welcome Back starts to shake and the last 30 minutes are so bad that it looks like that part was written and directed by a 5 year old. The way Naseeruddin Shah gets his eyesight back reminded me of Amar Akbar Anthony.
There are way too many songs and way too many pakao jokes, double meaning jokes and it feels like punches being thrown at your face. The background score isn't great, the script lacked originality, and was way off the mark when compared to Welcome.
This was supposed to be Shiney Ahuja's comeback that would have got him other Bollywood projects, but looks like it will take some time now for him to do so. This film has such good senior actors who have been wasted in such a way that you feel bad for them.
If it didn't have the end it has and was a bit different in the last 30 minutes, then Welcome Back would have deserved some points. But I don't recommend watching this one and instead do something else.
At 152 minutes, this feels way too long and during the time of writing this post it has an IMDb rating of 5.1/10, which I think is way higher than this film deserves. Disappointed with what director Anees Bazmee had to serve and if it gets a sequel, I would think twice about watching it.

Drishyam - The suspense will keep you hooked on

I have to say that I haven't seen the Malayalam film (by the same name) and Papanasam (Tamil film), so I can't really compare the three. But from what I've heard, the Malayalam version was the best.
But this review is about the Hindi film, so lets focus on that.
The film stars Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Tabu, and Ishita Dutta (Googled and found that she's Tanushree Dutta's sister) in the lead. Directed by Nishikant Kamat, Drishyam starts at a normal pace but picks up towards the end of 1st half. The story, the suspense will keep you hooked on. The film has its brains at the right place. The locations, the dialogues, the background score blend in perfectly. Drishyam is Avinash Arun's next film as cinematographer after Masaan and it's a brilliant work with the camera. The suspense is something that does not get revealed till the very end. Brilliant piece of writing and direction.
Vishal Bhardwaj's music also complements the entire story. Nishikant Kamat returns to direction after Lai Bhaari and have to say his direction is brilliant. This film is something that deserves all your attention. If you blink, you'll miss. It's got the perfect blend of every human emotion weaved into it and at the right time. The controversy surrounding the Malayalam version might have helped in this film's promotion as well.
There has not been such a sensible Hindi film in a long time. And I don't think there'll be one in a long time to come. Good drama, thriller, suspense and brilliant acting by the lead actors. We are not used to seeing Ajay Devgn playing a common man and in a role that doesn't involve over-the-top humour and unnecessary stunts and so this is a complete surprise. The last time Ajay Devgn played a common man was in Himmatwala, and we all know what a disaster that film was.
Drishyam is not to be missed, I repeat not to be missed for anything. It's a must must watch.

Masaan - The movie that you shouldn't miss for anything

Masaan is Neeraj Ghaywan's first full length film as a director.  Set in Banaras, the movie follows 2 stories that converge at a later stage. Richa Chadda as Devi Pathak, and Sanjay Mishra as Vidyadhar Pathak (Richa's father), are convincing in their roles and their struggle and acting feels real.
Vicky Kaushal as Deepak Chaudhary, and Shweta Tripathi as Shaalu, are the other half of the story. Masaan has the right amount of every element that makes a perfect film - love, society, sexual encounter, relationships, death. The film wonderfully explores love and relationships in small-town in modern India. The constant struggle faced by people who want to explore their lives and be free of the burden of the society and its rules.
The dialogues, the music and the locations blend in a perfect way to create a cinematic experience that will leave you with lots of emotions. It will make you smile, it will make you cry, it will make you feel the pain and suffering of the actors and their characters. (Song) Mann Kasturi Re by Indian Ocean is a soulful composition.
Avinash Arun, Cinematographer of this film is the Director of Killa (Marathi film), and deserves the credit for the amazing camera work and portraying Banaras and the banks of river Ganga in a picturesque way. Neeraj Ghaywan's hardwork has really paid-off in a big way. To take a risk of making a movie where the actors are in a complete de-glamourized way is a big achievement in itself.
Massan, being an Indo-French co-production got a Cannes showing before it was released in India and that also added to the much hype around the film. It also won 2 awards at the said film festival. Masaan will leave you with emotions and thoughts that will shape your thinking of the society and encourage you to take a deeper look at the happenings in the country.
This film is not to be missed for anything and truly, it is not your average cinema to be ignored.

Ant-Man - A typical Marvel superhero movie but...

A guy who thinks he knows everything but his wife along with their daughter has left him for a better man who happens to be a cop. The guy who calls himself a cat burglar but gets caught by the police for stealing and when he's out of prison he doesn't have a job, or a home, almost no money and stays at his friend's apartment suddenly happens to find a (superhero) suit as he's the chosen one to save the world.
This film has lots of references to other films. Some of the dialogues seem unoriginal and at time boring. But what's good about Ant-Man is Paul Rudd's and Michael Douglas' acting. (Don't remember the last film I saw which had Paul Rudd in it but this one might just be the one which gives him more films.) Michael Peña brings in the comedy to this one and is funny.
Peyton Reed has done a good job with this one; especially the two scenes where the characters discuss about the job they got to do. Ant-Man has received a Marvel superhero film treatment but still at times you will feel the lack of it. But this may be the case similar to Captain America: The First Avenger and it can get better in the next one. Or maybe not. We'll have to wait for that.
We know what Marvel is trying to do with the entire portfolio of superhero comics and movies under its umbrella and in the process will hit some lows (this film is not that but given the expectations it will feel like one). At 2 hours, Ant-Man feels like a tiny bit stretched couple of times. But overall, good fun to watch as a standalone superhero movie.

I suggest you watch the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: The Winter Soldier before watching this one.
Also wait till the End and the end End (after the credits are over) to get a sense of what you can expect from the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan - Sense + Salman

Before I start, let me tell you that this review is not for Bhai fans.
So here it goes...

It's not like Salman hasn't done movies that have sense and logic but it's also not like all his movies have sense and logic. Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a bit of both sense & logic (a bit more because it's a Kabir Khan film) and nonsense & no logic.
Let's talk about acting first.
Harshaali Malhotra's character was like "Bin Kahe Bahut Kuch Keh Gaya". Even without the dialogues her character spoke so much about the scenes and about her capabilities as a child actor. She deserves all the attention. Nawazuddin Siddiqui once again proves why he is what he is today. Brilliant acting as always. Kareena Kapoor doesn't have much screen time but isn't boring when she is on screen. Salman Khan - for many will be a surprise package but not for those who have watched Jai Ho. He's definitely improved, changed, and that's visible clearly.
Now on to the dialogues, lyrics, and story.
I'm not going to list all the names of people because that'll make this post too long but everyone associated with the departments mentioned above have done the best they could have to keep the dialogues, lyrics, and story somewhat relevant to today's times.
Now on to Direction.
Kabir Khan yet again delivers a different kind of film with Salman Khan. Nicely shot at wonderful locations in Rajasthan and Kashmir.
I know there are many who don't like Salman and his films and this film will not change your perception about him on a great scale. But I suggest you watch the film for the world we can never have because of politics and politicians. And also watch it for Harshaali Malhotra who definitely is the star of the movie. I liked Bajrangi Bhaijaan and yes I have become a bit more of a Salman fan now.

Baahubali - The epic larger than life movie you need to watch

(Firstly, have to thank my friends Pranita Mithbaonkar and Bhavesh Sharma for motivating me to watch this movie. If it wasn't for them I would have missed it and this review wouldn't have happened.)

S. S. Rajamouli hats-off.
If you don't follow Telugu cinema then you will not know about S. S. Rajamouli. I haven't seen any of his movies but the first movie of his that I heard about was Magadheera and the next movie which made him more prominent (in Bollywood) was Eega (better known as Makkhi in Hindi). There have only been 2 dubbed movies that I have watched in theatres and this one (Baahubali) has been the most expensive of the two for me.
Getting back to Baahubali, the scale at which this movie has been made is just unbelievable for an Indian movie. The set pieces, the locations, the characterization, the action were all just brilliant. You have to watch it to believe how Indian cinema has come a long way in churning out movies that want to compete with Hollywood. Enthiran (Robot) and Ra. One had set some highs in terms of the CGI being used in movies, but this movie has set the bar higher. And only someone from the south could have taken the risk of making such a movie.
The 1st half of the 1st half was ok (a few good stunts) but towards the end of 1st half is where the movie picks up pace. The 2nd half is where the most CGI has been used. It's a two part movie and like most movies which are made in parts, this too has something in the end that will leave you thinking and definitely buy tickets for the next part. It will be a lie to say that this movie is not inspired by other period dramas (movies and tv shows).
The risk has paid off. The last 45 minutes of the movie are worth spending the money on. One thing you will notice is that everyone who has worked on the movie have really worked for making it a success. The actors, and the director have done a brilliant job. Go watch it and don't miss it for anything.

Minions - Cute, fun, yellow little capsule kind of things

Minions is not as bad as everyone is saying it is. If you have kids, take them to watch this. Trust me they'll love (and the kid inside you too). But I advice you, it's a bit UA certified material, (not that the kids aren't subjected to worse things in real life but still). So if you loved Despicable Me then you must watch this origin / prequel / spin-off story and take your kids too but with a bit of responsibility.
The story has bits and pieces taken from other movies, so no surprises there. The dialogues are fun but again a lot has been inspired by other movies. But as a whole the movie is hilarious for most part. I know why the critics gave it low ratings but that doesn't mean the movie is bad. Featuring voices from Pierre Coffin to Sandra Bullock to Jon Hamm to even Michael Keaton, and others, the movie will definitely tickle your funny bone. But it will only be the kids who'll have a good laugh.

Dark Shadows - Better love story than twilight

Straight up - this is not like any movie you have seen I bet, but may not be the last. Dark Shadows comes from the unconventional masterclass director Tim Burton.Tim brings on board his fav cast (I think) of Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp and other great talents as Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jackie Earle Haley, Jonny Lee Miller, Bella Heathcote, Chole Grace Moretz and others.
Starts off with the setting of 18th century -  and cut to 19th century, the movie has dark, sexy, humourous setting, be it the theme, the time of day it has been shot and even a few comic sequences. An unusual vampire movie, which never disappoints and tries to connect with the audiences with each scene. Even though it comes with a few gruesome and frightening scenes, they seem comical at times. The movie at few points screams of Johnny Depp as the only big star present in the movie but having said that others do have their share of shout-outs. This is bound to happen if you have a lot of big names together on one big canvas. The movie has let downs too but Johnny Depp as charismatic Barnabas Collins, Eva Green as the sexy witch Angelique Bouchard, and Helena Bonham Carter as the wonderful Dr. Julia Hoffman do enough to keep you glued and at times on the edge of your seat.
With a lot of unexpected twists director Burton tries to deliver something different to you and succeeds most of the time. At times the movie becomes a one which is (sexy) women-centric and energetic enough to take a sigh in the next scene. To create a cinematic experience like Dark Shadows takes a lot of courage and to deliver it, requires even more. And when it is delivered the credit must go to the entire cast and crew. If you are a man or a woman, believe it or not you will forget what's happening on screen and concentrate on Eva Green every time she appears on screen. A few good laughs too packed in with some really good frightening scenes. Some scenes are worth watching. Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins who tries to break the curse which has passed on from generations in his family and in process tries to restore the family's former glory retains his charm throughout the movie and never disappoints.
The music and the soundtracks that play in the background are amazing, maybe because we have heard them and that was the time of retaliation and fight for change and freedom we can relate and connect to them still today. The language (Shakespearean English) which Barnabas Collins speaks would be difficult for some to understand but that's how it is - simply take it or leave it attitude, which I liked about it.
Overall a treat to watch. Tim Burton and everyone else in their best form and character. Can't think of anything else other than Eva Green after watching.
[Even though it's been given an A certificate in India, I can assure you we have heard worse when it comes to language and seen worse when it comes to frightening and sexy. Why the hell did they give it an A certificate. What the hell were they thinking at CBFC while rating this movie.]

The Avengers - Absolute Marvel

Movies come and go, but some stay longer than the others. Some are categorized as the genres they belong to and some genres are defined by movies. The Avengers is one such movie which will remain in your mind for a long time. If you are bored of cricket, or don't have anything to do, or wanna catch a movie, then surely you won't regret watching The Avengers, And you can catch this movie even without any reason. There's so much to say but so less words to explain. The Avengers is not your average superhero movie.
If you have watched their individual films in which these superheroes have appeared, you are gonna love this one too, because it gives you more of each superhero. The action sequences pack a powerful punch, the thrill that this movie gives you is amazing, high adrenaline rush, great line-up of stars, quirkiness, wittiness, glamour - its got it all. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson - six superstars as six superheroes in one movie; each with similar screen time. They surely know how to deliver.
Not to forget Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders and Tom Hiddleston who also live up to their characters.
Some may still feel disconnected due to violence or iron man's unnecessary humour but frankly it is spell-binding in its execution, leaves you wanting for more. Director Joss Whedon - a screenwriter for many films including Toy Story (nominated for Academy Award Best Writing (Original Screenplay), didn't win it though).
3D technology has gone for a toss today but if it was just like the old days this movie surely has got scenes that will come right in front of your eyes. Still, I would say go watch it in 3D. Scarlett Johansson - she can do a good Russian accent.
In the end, all I wanna say is that amazing action makes up for the clichéd storyline of protecting the earth from creatures from other planets. Nonetheless, kids and adults are going to enjoy it; maybe for different reasons. What an experience! I had watching it.

[Movies have been a family affair for me, every time it's a different experience but a good one and a one which remains forever. This time was no less. Had a quality family time watching it with the entire family.]

Vicky Donor - Spermtetaining

Giving life is perfectly normal and considering it is legal there's nothing to shy about. Well, have you ever wondered what kind of a sperm are you? After watching this movie you'll know the answer or you're gonna ask yourself this question.
Going by the subject of the movie, the title and the cast many made-up their minds they are not gonna watch this movie, and rather would do something more productive. But there are many like me who have watched the movie or are going to watch. I would suggest to those who are not going to watch that instead of thinking there are other good things to do compared to watching, they need to go see this movie which reinstates the fact that there is still a creative sperm left in Bollywood.
I know it's a touchy subject for many and some may feel uncomfortable to watch this movie but it is fictitiously based on reality. After a long tine there has been a movie from which you can have expectations and consider the movie to live up to it. Absolutely brilliant, spermy, witty, quirky to the point movie, expect to hear the word 'sperm' a  more than ever you are gonna use it. John Abraham's fans are gonna question why did he decide to produce this film? The answer is, he's a creative sperm and a rich sperm together.
The cast includes Ayushmann Khurana (VJ & Anchor) as Vicky Arora, Yami Gautam (Soap opera & movie star)  as Ashima Roy and Annu Kapoor (Anchor & Actor) as Dr. Baldev Chaddha. Filmstars going to telly screens and telly stars doing films is the trend today. And the director Shoojit Sircar is the guy who made Yahaan (Jimmy Shergill & Minissha Lamba). All the actors have played the character brilliantly. Don't mind the language, the drinking and more importantly who's drinking more (you'ed be surprised).
Almost entirely based in Delhi, the first half is comical and the second half emotional. The movie is not for those who expect to see big stars or for those who expect a clean humour but this one is not over the top. Well executed,  quirkiness in dialogue delivery, absolutely fresh out of a creative sperm. You have to watch it to understand what sperm donation is and why it exists. The chemistry between a bong (bengali) girl and a Punjabi munda is wonderfully portrayed. This movie will definitely challenge your senses.
If you want to have a laugh, have nothing to do over the week or bored of staring at the idiot box, go watch it. Worth every rupee. Deserves five stars. You're not gonna regret watching this one
[Question yourself; what if you were born after your parents decided your career? I have a bit of a blogger sperm, I'm sure about that. Don't compare this movie to any other movie you have ever watched.]

Bittoo Boss - Sasky

Have you been to a movie which has a small town guy, with big dreams, misunderstood by a rich girl, later both are in love, so the relationship carries on and later some things happen cause the guy wanna make it big n so they break-up, then again get back after some time and again misunderstanding causes them to break-up this time because of his business partner. A month later our hero gets to know that the heroine is getting married, so he goes to her wedding to ruin it and make her his again, by exposing the bad guys, then in the end they are together and happy ending to a movie?
The answer is Yes, you have. This one's similar but the point is the similarity ends there. What's different in this, is the execution, the dialogues, the way it has been packaged and presented. It's about a V.D.O. shooter without whom nobody wants to start the celebration, girls who want to give him their sasky pose (for photographs). which he saves it on 'local disk d'. He wants to enter the media industry and how he wants to make it big.
The male lead has Pulkit Samrat (Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi's Lakshya Virani) and the female lead has Amita Pathak (Aakrosh & Haal-e-Dil) playing their parts. Both do justice to their characters most of the time. You shouldn't watch it if you are expecting something big and vastly different from other movies of this kind but what you can expect, is to get a good message and new words to use on Facebook or Twitter or just in your daily life.
Words like 'sasky', 'riks' and 'local disk d' are used too often which sometimes will make you feel that there are no other dialogues. There's this constant fight between doing good and doing bad, the frustration of a struggler, his way of making it big by choosing to make and sell blue films of honeymoon couples, losing his love more than once, and his constant disagree to his father's sayings.
The male lead has only two looks - one a 'chichora gaon ka chora with beard' and the other 'without the beard chichora gaon ka chora'. Overall the movie scores on execution, dialogues and delivery of dialogues more than the matter. The stars don't disappoint either. The movie is a must watch for freshers, strugglers.

[Felt like watching a special screening with only 13 other people. But was worth. Remember we all have a Bittoo ( V.D.O shooter) in our life, especially during our lavish weddings jo sabki leta hai (photos and videos) which makes our occasions a memory.]

Agent Vinod - One for the tharki buddhas

Have you ever watched a movie and said it could have been better or didn't see what I expected, well here's another one to that list. Watched Agent Vinod and at first it felt good effort but as the movie continued, I felt that it still needed some refinement. Wonderful locations, hot actresses, quirky dialogues, cocky attitude, villains -  tharki (except one) buddhas, item numbers, unusual direction, hatke script, love, hate, romance, humour, other emotions, chase sequences, thrills, action; its got it all yet I had this thought that something was missing; and  no it wasn't the popcorn.Saifeena is a pair to watch but the story will be hard to digest by us Indians.
Sriram Raghavan - remember his first directorial venture - Ek Deewana Tha and his next - Johnny Gaddaar, some similarities with this but a lot of differences. A lot of well executed action sequences which will make you wtf! how the hell did he pulled it off? Other thing which you won't connect with will be a love song in the background of an action sequence.
The scenes worth watching involve the Mercs and the BMWs and the Audis crashing (better than Rohit Shetty's), the only luxury car that is left unscratched is the Rolls Royce. The unseen locations in Indian films get +1, but too much attention to love between Saifeena gets a dislike. No prize for guessing where pyar ki pungi song comes.
Overall a well attempted movie, a good 12 countries tour but with a lot of duds and disconnection.
